Connect Claude AI agents to a governance layer for decision tracking, compliance, audits, and human oversight using the Model Context Protocol.
gia-mcp-server acts as a middleman between Claude Desktop or Claude Code and the GIA governance engine. It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to pass information back and forth. This helps keep your AI agents running by securely connecting your local tools to an external governance system.
In simple terms, it makes sure your Claude tools follow rules set by the GIA Governance platform, adding an extra layer of safety and compliance.
Before you begin, check if your computer meets these minimum needs:
Make sure your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates.
Here is how to set up and run gia-mcp-server on a Windows PC. You don’t need coding skills for this.
Click the button below or go to this link to access the download page on GitHub:
You will find all the files and the latest updates there.
On the GitHub page, look for the “Releases” section. Inside the latest release, find the file with a name like gia-mcp-server-win.exe or similar. This is the installer or executable file for Windows.
Click to download it on your computer.
This process sets up the application on your PC.
After installation finishes:
The server will start and try to connect Claude Desktop or Claude Code to the GIA governance engine.
Once running, the program will display status messages. Look for a message that confirms the connection to the hosted GIA engine. This means your tools can now interact safely with the governance system.
gia-mcp-server listens for requests from Claude Desktop or Claude Code. It then sends those requests to the GIA governance engine. The engine applies compliance rules, audits actions, and enforces policies. The server then sends back the processed results.
This keeps all AI operations in line with enterprise rules, following standards like NIST guidelines. It ensures the human-in-the-loop can oversee the AI processes safely.
The application shows logs in its main window. These give you details on communication status and any errors.
Regularly check the GitHub downloads page for new versions. Download and install updates using the same steps as the first installation.
If you encounter problems, try these steps:
If issues persist, you can look through the GitHub issues page or contact support on the repository page.
gia-mcp-server supports Claude Desktop and Claude Code on Windows. Other platforms or tools are not supported.
The server only transmits data necessary for governance. It uses secure connections to protect communication.
